York St. Diner in Vancouver Island

Very affordable prices with huge portions. I took half my dinner home because they give so much.The food was cooked perfectly, and despite how busy it was on mother's day, the food was extremely quick. From sit down to leaving, we were there maybe an hour in total. Very impressed and will be returning.

You can't go wrong with York street! A definite Duncan staple!!! We always go for breakfast/brunch, their Bennie's are amazing!! The ham on the classic Benny is the best in town! Always friendly staff and fast service! I mean sometimes under 10 minutes and your food is at the table!!

Have to tell the truth I didn't love the beef dip however upon telling them that it wasn't up to par they immediately remove my plate and brought me a menu and offered to bring me another food item. The professionalism of the servers, the value of the food and the overall experience was wonderful! Shauna was a great server and I would definitely seek to be sat in her Section again

I go here often. Their food is great and service is overall good. Most of the waitresses are very caring and will remember you if you're a regular. As a vegetarian, I still have a pretty wide menu, all of which are delicious. My mom and dad LOVE their poutine and get it all the time. Overall a great place for dinner with family and friends.

This restraunt has fantastic servers who are very attentive and friendly. The cooks will accommodate dietary restrictions if a recipe can be altered. I has to have fish batter made without milk and they did... the cooks offered to make a fresh batch of batter without milk! Impressive and much appreciated. They also have a gluten free menu and the food and pricing and fantastic!

Food was really good. Chicken and waffles and they oyster basket. Service was friendly.

I liked the tall wooden giraffe in the centre of the restaurant. The family of giraffes kept me company while I ate breakfast. That was nice of them Staff was friendly, food came out promptly. The waitress recommended the chicken and waffles. I think her name was Carley. Good recommendation. Cool Duncan joint.

After working hard all day makng trees safe, sometimes you do not have the energy to cook. You want a lovely home cooked meal with decent portions. Love the food and service here.

Great place to eat, mostly busy.I don't like the echo effect of people talking but they treat you well.

Service took a bit longer than usual. Food was alright and in good portions however I've never had eggs Benedict ever taste bad aside from here. Also certain sauces didn't taste as they should have.

This is a relaxing diner atmosphere with great staff. The food is fantastic and the service is speedy. I recommend the breakfast called the "York Street" - it is a giant breakfast and you won't be hungry for the rest of the day but it is absolutely delicious! Besides this, there are so many great things to try and they serve lunch and dinner options as well. It truly is an authentic diner and a must-go restaurant on Vancouver Island.

Amazing bacon cheeseburger! Great homemade food, and they take their bacon seriously.

Really enjoyed their take on breakfast, the portion size for ham felt like they just cut a huge chunk off for me, bacon was thick and crispy and eggs came out perfect over medium. Staff was friendly and clearly were busy. Would eat there again, would reccomend.

The new item in the menu is so delicious! The Hungry Man is so filling that you should really be hungry! Everything was just so delicious, but it always is when going here!!

I was told by a tradesman to check out this restaurant. I am new to the area. It is one his favourite spots. I was not disappointed. Excellent and friendly service. The Ukranian Platter was just what I needed. I washed down this delightful meal with Red Arrow Piggy Pale Ale. And topped off the celebration with a strawberry rhubarb pie (à la mode). With coffee & tax $36.

Friend had the club sandwich..very large sandwich.with bacon ham chicken and fries...I had the oysters and chowder instead of fries.Oysters were juicy although too much pako breaded for me...chowder had lots of seafood but bland...Good diner menu and very good service.

Came because of the reviews and wasn’t disappointed! Lots of choices, extra large portions, small choices for kids & seniors, and breakfast ‘til 2!! Poutine and pancakes were excellent ; seafood chowder 6/10 needs a bit more flavour but the customer service was so good we’ll be sure to return. Nice surprise right off the highway.

Absolutely fantastic food here, I had the chicken and waffles and it was beyond delicious. By far the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly cooked, so tender and the breading was crispy and well seasoned. My bf had the Blackstone eggs benny and it was very yummy. Their homemade hollandaise sauce was scrumptious and bacon was thick and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend the breakfast here and I can't wait to go back and try some of the rest of their menu.

Very nice little dinner, comfortable atmosphere. All waitresses were excellent, providing a smiling friendly service and quick catering. Some of the better eggs Benedict I’ve ever come across, and the chicken and waffles were top notch. This place has it going on, I will return when I’m in the area again. No need to go to any chain restaurant when there’s a place like this in town.

Bacon cheese burger was delicious but bigger than I thought so was very full. Next time I would share. The lettuce in the salad was a little tired looking. Obviously not freshly made. On the whole the meal was good but servings are large.

Awesome food and prices, although I’v learned to check my takeout orders when I pick them up due to frequent errors with receiving orders where they don’t put your entire order in the bag, other than that, one of my favourite restaurants in Duncan.

Myself and my son arrived at the restaurant at 12:05. The restaurant was very busy, but we were seated right away. Waitress brought us a coffee and returned shortly to take our orders at around 12:15. Then we waited and waited. Meanwhile a table of 2 , 3 , 5 , received their food. I thought the wait might have been because my son ordered the Chicken and waffles. But no, two people at the table of five had also ordered that. We waited patiently while two more tables that sat down 15 and 20 minutes after us got their food. We got our food 50 minutes after ordering. I realize things can happen in the service industry. My biggest complaint is that our waitress ( who obviously forgot to put in our orders) did absolutely nothing to make us feel as if we mattered. All she needed to do was be honest with us. A little apology goes a long way. But not today. I watched how hard our waitress was working and it was only this that made me quietly sit and wait.

Nice spot. Good food similar to the Dog House but much less busy. We'll be back.

First let me say the service is amazing. Friendly staff ! The food was a big portion. The only reason for the low review is because I got massively sick after eating this dish for the whole day; I couldn’t eat anything after because it went right through me. The pierogies were really soft, maybe a bit over boiled. Was slightly disappointed.Overall:Staff - 5/5Portion size - 4/5Food - 2/5

This place is an actual diner, in the best possible way. They make sure you don't leave hungry. They serve REAL eggs and REAL bacon. The food came out freshly made and very quick. Fantastic place if you are hungry for sure.

For the 3 or 3 times I've been there. The food was very good. Well worth a few trips to try different items. The service has been very good each time as well. Worth a visit or 2 in my opinion

The first and best burger i had on Vancouver Island: Their "York's Burger". Absolutely delicious with mushroom and bacon for a fair price. Fully recommendable. My wife had turkey roast. very tasty. The waitress was very funny and made heaps of jokes

I was their first customer to experience a brand new item to the menu. A vegan burger like you have never experienced.Every bit of the burger is 💯 vegan. No need to ask them to remove mayonnaise or regular cheese as all sauces and cheese are vegan too.My wife and I were at this restaurant a week ago visiting with family, and she complained about the lack of vegan options.The York St Diner responded with a vegan burger.

This place was a pleasant surprise. We arrived at a very busy time, so had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Service was still fast and excellent, despite being very busy. Food was very good. I can see why it's so popular!

First time having dinner at the York Street Diner but not our last. Pleasantly surprised as we only considered this restaurant a great place for breakfast but not anymore. Husband had the Prime Rib Special last night and I had the Seafood linguine. Great tasting, huge portions and great service by Mandie the waitress. Mandie's attention and friendly personality made our dining experience very enjoyable!!

Best breakfast in town. Great prices and the portions are awesome too. A personal favorite is the going bananas breakfast item. I struggle to try anything new when I'm there because I love that meal SO much. Staff are friendly and it has a wonderful vibe each time I'm there.

This place never lets me down, it is my go to for family dinners. Amazing staff and great food.
